Australia vs India – One Day Internationals

1st ODI, 27 November (Sydney)

2nd ODI, 29 November (Sydney)

3rd ODI, 2 December (Manuka)

The ODI’s will be first out when this tour starts on the 27th of November. Australia haven’t played ODI’s since September when they managed to defeat England by 2-1. India are the ones with the better record, having won 12 of their last 22 ODI’s against Australia. The ODI’s will count towards the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League. India are already qualified to the 2023 World Cup as hosts while Australia are currently on 3rd place in the table. The eight best teams in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League will be qualified to the World Cup while the bottom five will have to play another qualification round.

The Indian captain, Virat Kohli, will only lead the nation until the first test is played after being granted paternity leave. Ajinkya Rahane will be the one to take on the role as captain once Kohli leaves the tour. It will be a tough task to overcome as they take on an Australian side where both Warner and Smith are back in action. Two players who were serving bans last time the two nations meet.

1st T20I, 4 December (Manuka)

2nd T20I, 6 December (Sydney)

3rd T20I, 8 December (Sydney)

The T20I’s will play a vital role of the two nations build-ups for next year’s T20I World Cup. Expect a good round of games as both India and Australia finish of their last preparations. The 2021 ICC Men’s T20I World Cup is planned to take place in October. India will be the host nation for the tournament in which 16 teams will participate. India have won the World Cup trophy once, 2007, while Australia are still waiting for their first. The Australian team came close in 2010 when they lost against England in the final.

Tests

1st Test, 17-21 December (Adelaide)

2nd Test, 26-30 December (Melbourne)

3rd Test, 7-11 January (Sydney)

4th Test, 15-19 January (Brisbane)

Last but not least the India tour of Australia will finish of with four test games. The test games will count towards the ICC World Test Championship where India are currently in top followed by Australia in second. The World Test Championship is planned to finish in June with a final between the two best teams at Lord’s in England. This will be a massive encounter between two of the dominant nations when it comes to test games. India are the current champions and holders of the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
