England have qualified for their first ever European Championship final as they go up against the one-time winners Italy on Sunday night. Road to the final
Italy showed no mercy in the group stage as they completely battered all three oppositions and sealed the top spot. The front trio with Insigne, Immobile and Chiesa have been flawless and have scored 6 goals all together. In the round of 16 Austria awaited, a match where Italy found themselves under some pressure for the first time in the tournament. Thanks to goals by Chiesa and Pessina in the overtime Italy were able to advance to the quarterfinals. Strong wins against Belgium and Spain in the quarterfinal and semifinal took Italy to their first European Championship final since 2012. The Italian team has been impressive since the first match of the tournament and has taken many fans and experts by surprise.
England had a somewhat slow start of the tournament with two narrow 1-0 wins against Croatia and Czech Republic. 7 points was however enough to get through as top seeded team from Group D and the English team stood ready for the round of 16 and a match against Germany. An impressive 2-0 led the English team to a quarter final against Ukraine (4-0) and a semifinal against Denmark where they managed to pick up a victory by an overtime goal signed Harry Kane.
Odds & Predictions
Italy – England in a European Championship final – Couldn’t be made up in a better way. Two of the world’s dominating football nations face each other on Sunday night and we can’t wait to see the players line up at Wembley Stadium. England are favorites going into the game, much thanks to the massive home advantage of playing in front of tens of thousands of English fans. Italy however should go into this game with good confidence after beating a number of excellent teams on their way to the final. They have impressed hugely throughout the whole tournament and while England have had a comfortable way to the final, Italy have had to face some of the toughest opposition sides in the competition. We believe Italy should have a good chance of upsetting the English teams with their sharp counter attacks. Our bet on Sunday's final will be Italy to lift the champions trophy which currently pays around 2.00.
