FC Goa - Hyderabad FC 18/12

FC Goa - Hyderabad FC 18/12

After three consecutive defeats and a tough start to the new season, FC Goa finally managed to pick up their first wins of the season against East Bengal and Bengaluru FC. Last season’s semifinalists have struggled to replicate last season’s performances and are currently 8th in the table. On Saturday night it’s time for the Gaurs to face Hyderabad FC in what should be an interesting fight. Hyderabad FC, with only one defeat so far, will be a tough challenge for FC Goa who need to win if they’re going to catch up on the teams ahead of them in the table.

FC Goa

FC Goa lost three games last season, four when including the semifinal defeat against Mumbai City. This season they have already reached three defeats and we have only played 5 rounds. Even though it’s still too early to make big conclusions about FC Goa and their 2021/22 season, it is worrying that they have already fallen behind at the same time as Mumbai City and Saturday’s opponent Hyderabad FC keep piling up wins.

If we are to find some positives from FC Goa and their start to the new season it is that they now have two wins in a row, East Bengal (4-3) and Bengaluru FC (2-1). If they manage to keep the momentum up and find back to the winning concept from last season they will be a team to count on when this season’s playoff spots are going to be decided.

Hyderabad FC

Hyderabad FC is flying high at the moment and 2nd place in table tells how good their season opening has been. A defeat in the season opener against Chennaiyin has been followed up by four unbeaten games and it’s only the current champions Mumbai City who can show up a greater record after five games. Ogbeche, striker from Mumbai City, has been unstoppable so far and has already scored five goals this season.

They come from a 5-1 win against North East United and will hope to continue on the same way when FC Goa awaits on Saturday night. The two sides have faced each other four times and Hyderabad FC are still waiting for their first win.
Hyderabad’s performance against NorthEast United was flawless where players like Hitesh Sharma, Asish Rai and Nikhil Poojary were all playing at their best. If they come up in the same level against FC Goa they will have a good chance of picking up their fourth win of the season.

Prediction

Excpect the defeat in the opening round, Hyderadbad FC has been one of the best team so far this season. They have already managed to win against the current champions and last time out they trashed NorthEast United with 5-1. FC Goa might be on their way to find back to last season’s form but the game against a flying Hyderabad FC might come too early. Hyderabad FC with an blistering Ogbeche at top will cause problems for FC Goa and we believe it’s enough to bring all three points from Saturday’s game.
