Two weeks have passed since India celebrated their glorious victory down-under when they managed to lift the Border-Gavaskar trophy for a second consecutive time after a thrilling game against Australia. The celebrations and praise for the Indian national team have been ongoing since then, as it’s now time to prepare for their next opponent. England are coming to India, and they do it for the first time since 2016.

The Indian national team are obviously in good mood after their latest victory in Australia but will have to re-focus and be at their best if any success is going to be repeated when England awaits. The two cricket giants have faced each other 60 times on Indian soil and even though a majority of the games have ended with a draw, India have the better record with 19 wins against England’s 13. Last time England managed to beat India away from home was in 2012-13. India are the ones that’re going into the series as favorites, even though you should never underestimate a strong cricket nation as England.

India’s squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (Vice-captain), KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Md. Siraj, Shardul Thakur

Net Bowlers: Ankit Rajpoot, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Warrier, Krishnappa Gowtham, Saurabh Kumar

Standby players: K S Bharat, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shahbaz Nadeem, Rahul Chahar, Priyank Panchal

Like in all other test series a lot will be decided by the first two games. The team that manages to come out strong and win the opening games will have an advantage by getting that extra boost that can help winning the series. The Indian players know how strong they usually are at home ground and are surely confident as they come from an inspirational win against Australia.
